I am Lola Boris! From a young age, I have been exploring the world through my art.

Illustration, painting, digital work, embroidery, sculpture and textile art.

These are just a few of the many mediums I experiment with. During my childhood, I created an alter ego named "Lola Boris." After my education, I chose to work under this name. To me, this name embodies the escapism, optimism, and naivety that are so characteristic of my style and the feeling I aim to evoke in my audience.

Through my art, I challenge each and every one of us to come and play in the parallel universe I have created.

A Garden of Eden where you can befriend the snake, eat all the apples, dig holes, and build forts.

I studied Applied Visual Arts at Sint-Lucas KSO in Antwerp and later continued my education at the Royal Academy of Arts in Antwerp, where I graduated in 2013 as a graphic designer and illustrator.

After my studies, I worked for five years as a print designer for a company that produced African fabrics.

This job introduced me to various ethnic symbols and tribes from West Africa.

Studying this culture influenced my art, inspiring a street style and linework that I continue to build upon today. I began exploring painting and participated in several exhibitions, including a solo exhibition in 2018.

In 2020, I had the opportunity to join Nightwatch at FOMU Antwerp as a coach, which sparked my interest in becoming a teacher in part-time art education.

Now, I teach visual arts part-time to children from first to sixth grade. It's wonderful to see how children experience art. Their often humorous interpretations of reality align perfectly with my practice and create a beautiful cross-pollination.

In addition, I am constantly working on various creative projects, primarily illustrations and paintings. Currently, I am expanding my knowledge with textile and sculpture art. My current project explores creating textile sculptures. Giving art an extra, tangible dimension literally adds new depth and provides a playground where exploration reigns!
